Difference Between Yarn-Dyed and Piece-Dyed Fabrics
- Yarn-Dyed Fabric
Yarn-dyed fabric is made by dyeing the yarn or fibers first and then weaving them into fabric. Since the yarn is dyed thoroughly, the color typically remains stable even after repeated washing or exposure to sunlight. - Piece-Dyed Fabric
Piece-dyed fabric is dyed after the fabric has been woven. Because the dye mainly adheres to the surface of the fabric, its colorfastness may be slightly weaker, especially when subjected to abrasion or repeated washing.
The color fastness advantages of yarn-dyed fabrics are usually reflected in the following aspects:
